A woman was arrested in Florida for putting poison in baby food jars and containers of juice at the grocery store. It is reported that she put on gloves and spent about 15 minutes squirting a dark liquid that smelled like ammonia into the baby food. When questioned, she said she was mixing food for her son. The AP reports her son is 21.
Authorities gave her a mental health evaluation before putting her in jail. Good I suppose to confirm she is a whack. But here's hoping officials didn't spend lots of money to figure out whether the woman is ill.
She is reported to have a history of hurting others. She stabbed someone in 2006.
Hoorah to the store employees who observed her and prevented a potentially deadly outcome to a random Florida baby. And thankfully, the whack took her time rather than inject a squirt in 15 seconds, giving employees the time to become curious. But, maybe, just maybe, that store employees were the mechanism to prevent poisoned food from being carried home and digested suggests certain foods be more securely packaged. This woman, like the Tylenol tampering whack, is not alone in whatever ails and motivates her.
