According to Fox News, Annette
Yeomans, 51, a bookkeeper at a California cabinetry business, allegedly stole almost $9 million from her company between 2001 and 2007. Today, she is in jail, being held in lieu of $10 million bail.
What does a bookkeeper do with almost $9 million of other peoples' money? She didn't buy vaccines for low income kids or laptops for underprivileged students. No, no, no.
Annette allegedly bought 400 pairs of shoes. They lived in a closet as big as a room. Lit by a crystal chandelier. When you think about it, really think, it is not at all excessive to light a room holding that many quality shoes by chandelier. How many people do you know light $240,000 worth of shoes by an old white bubble fixture with a 60 watt behind it and little dead bugs laying there when you look real close? It wouldn't be right.
Oh, and Annette installed a 32 inch plasma TV in the closet, too. C'mon. Picking a pair of shoes each morning from among 400 had to take real time. If you had to do it, you might want Good Morning America on in the background, too.
Annette only spent $300,000 on designer clothes. Only, because in relation to almost a quarter million on shoes, $300,000 is a little light in the clothing department.
But, so that her shoes didn't look out of place, Annette went with $2,000 purses. Had about 160 of those. New expensive shoes have a way of making old bags look kind of baggy. Annette didn't really have the option of schlupping around discount stores for a basic black bag.
Annette's husband was a cabinet installer for the company from which she stole. He is not suspected of any crime. Let us tune in to see whether he will pull a Ruth Madoff and claim, as the innocent spouse, that he is entitled to keep the plasma TV.
Annette was outed by American Express.
